Life Update - Year Later.

Bored.

Wow... This has been a long time. It almost feels awkward writing something down for the blog. God where do i begin? Last update left me complaining about the economic situation in Greece. That was almost a year ago, and i was yet to escape the clutches of the military. Since then lots have happened. After all it's been more than a year.

So i guess i will be writing in as a concise a manner as possible what has happened. So... Since May... The financial situation in Greece has only gotten worse. I do believe i had an emotional outburst a few days ago about this as you might see here (if you can stomach it): Buzz Rant . Props to Mark for giving me the leverage i needed to vent :) ... and to Christian for surviving. So i won't go into a political discussion. That alone should cut down on the post quite a bit :D.

So since then... summer 2010. Awesome summer. I had just gotten out of the military, and i had just met someone ;). Hanging out with the people i had just met, and literally going all around Greece. Saw some awesome beaches, and had a heck of a time. By the end of the summer, the interest developed to something more, and i was assistant coach to the female hockey team established by my club. At the same time i started looking for job. The euphoria that was, that summer came to an end with it. By the end of October, things went inexplicably awry. Till this day i can't figure out what happened, and the love interest crumpled. As a result of that i opted out to quit coaching, and focus more on establishing myself in a city where it seemed futile due to rising unemployment (around 40% unofficially now).

So I figured it would be a good time for me, to visit my friends in Canada! So i upped and packed and off i went to the "land of snow and ice". My visit, unfortunately did not last long, since it was only 10 days in the beginning of November, but it was hella fun! I got to see most of my friends (unfortunately wasn't able to meet up with some peeps in Toronto), and most importantly i got to see my niece, Eleni! Incoming, selected, pictures! That vacation was well worth it... although short.

Coming back i had to face old demons... Attitudes had changed, still not sure why, and i was turned into an outcast from the people i had so much fun with over the summer. "Meh! No matter", i thought, "opportunity to meet new people". And so I did. People who up to today have been super awesome to me and i know i can trust them not to raise a whole lot of drama. In the meantime, i kept going to hockey practices and we finally went to the Greek Championship for ice hockey. As most of you know, we managed to finish first :) yay! Things seemed to be getting a tad better. Workwise, I was getting some interviews, but i still wasn't able to land something solid. I actually had one employer tell me I have all the qualifications i needed for the job (the wanted someone that could code php), but he couldn't hire me because I didn't have any logistics experience. FYI the job ad didn't mention ANYTHING about logistic experience; only that they required someone that knows php etc. Sad, no?

So from December to May, my life went on quite uneventful, with the exception of dealing with the drama and game-of-throne-like plots. I was franticly looking for a job while making some time on the side for hockey. Championship came and went, and i decided to step away from what pretty much held me together for all this time. I did so to calm things down, although till today rumors seem to have only gotten louder, with little participation from my part. Around May, and after looking for a job since July '10, i managed to find a good position and the pay is good enough for Greek standards. So that brings me to today. Working happily, and trying to enjoy my summer as best as i can. Temperature is really getting up there as well. Yesterday we had 35 degrees at 20.00 o'clock.

Huh. This turned out to be far shorter than I expected it to be. But that's what’s been going on in a nutshell!
