No Purpose Rant

Long time ago, circa 2009, I promised my good friend Mark that I will sit down and write a Christmas rant. In 2009 I was in the military, and in 2010, I was not quite up to date with blogging. Time has come for me to rectify my erroneus ways, and write what was once promised. If anything it can't be said that I don't keep my promises :P. I am like the Dothraki... I do things in my own time :) ( read Game of Thrones... )

Finally got to see "Das Wilde Leben" few days ago. Great movie. I have been trying to find it after I heard the soundtrack many years ago. The song which is a remake, features singer Ville Valo, with the star of the movie Natalia Avalon. For those that do not know, Ville Valo is the lead singer for the band H.I.M. I've been a fan for quite a few years actually... so this is the song(/awesome video clip)  from the soundtrack (best quality I could find, please ignore the subtitles.)

Προκαλεί απίστευτο αίσθημα ευθύνης η κληρονομία μας. Είμαι 29 χρονών. Η κατάσταση σήμερα θυμίζει πολλά με την κατάσταση τότε. Τότε άνθρωποι νεώτεροι απο εμένα, έπεσαν απο κάποιο σιδερένιο κιγκλίδωμα, όταν ένα τανκς το γκρέμισε. Προκαλεί θυμό η ανημποριά στην οποία μας έχουν βυθίσει. Η κληρονομιά είναι βαριά, αλλά είμαστε άξιοι της, εάν μπορέσουμε, και μόνο, να ανταποκριθούμε. Και τότε, δεν ήταν βίαιος ο αγώνας των φοιτητών... με βία όμως την κατέστειλαν. Γι' αυτό και οι κυβερνώντες πέσανε. Αφιερωμένο λοιπόν σε αυτούς που πέσανε, και σε αυτούς που διοικούν αυτόν το τόπο, αλλά δυστυχώς ξέχασαν οτι κάνανε, τότε, που ήταν νέοι. Είθε λοιπόν, οι διοικούντες να βρούνε την χαμένη τους λαλιά, και να εκπληρώσουν αυτό που πριν τόσα χρόνια φώναζαν:  Ψωμί, Παιδεία, Ελευθερία...

I really don't know what's wrong with me since really most of the things in my life are going great. However, I find myself engaged more and more into sadder songs. This was just too good to pass up, although not really well known even within Greece. I find the lyrics to be incredible and I could only wish to be able to write similar stuff someday. Literally the song writer (... and performer in this case) has an amazing talent, for putting emotions to words. I translated the lyrics for non-Greek folks.
